Organize Your Room, Organize Your Life
                         Tamara Zook's Organizing Tips

Congratulations, you made it to another Spring! Sometimes just getting there can seem miraculous. I'm sure you've had thoughts about what you would like to accomplish this Spring, as well as this year!  What are the changes you would like to make and the fun you would like to have? I'd love to share some of the organizing tips I give my clients to make some of these things happen.

"How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!"
Inside that phrase is a clue for the lists, changes and fun you'd like to experience. I've coined it "Baby Blessings™."

"How small?", you ask. Start with fifteen minutes. Break down whatever is the first step to reaching your larger goal into something you can do in fifteen-minute increments. Experts say that we can do anything for fifteen minutes-even the worst tasks. I use this with myself and with my clients.

When things are really scary or taxing, I remember to speak very nicely to myself and say, "Come on, Tamara, it is only for fifteen minutes. You can do it. Just think how wonderful it will be when you are done. You'll feel great and in only fifteen minutes."

Sometimes I set a timer to remind myself when the fifteen minutes are up. At the beginning, those fifteen minutes are like the five-pound weights we start with at the gym. To anticipate that you could jump in and do more is actually a set-up for failure.

When you're at the very beginning of what feels like a tall mountain or even a mountain range-as may be the case with a room that has never been organized-you want to do all you can to support yourself to accomplish each step.  Then you won't find yourself quitting after just a few.

Our lives are complex. Many of us juggle several businesses, participate in many different activities, and at the same time keep track of our family members' schedules, wants and desires. When that little pushy voice creeps into your mind and tells you that you're not getting enough done, and you should do more than "just" a Baby Blessing™, look at the bigger picture and remember that each step will take you closer to your goal. Don't let that pushy little voice force you to pick up that fifty-pound weight until you're ready. Five is enough to start. The next day you may do another five-or move up to ten. Keep at it in increments of Baby Blessings™ and you'll reach your goal.

TESTIMONIAL

I am a Personal Assistant for a high powered entertainment industry professional. We have won 11 Emmy's with our audience sweetening aka Laugh Tracks. However our home/office was no laughing matter. It was a mess when I started. Taxes hadn't been paid for years, invoices hadn't been sent out, bills were mounting up!  Tamara came to the rescue with her usual ease and grace. She put systems in place to serve all of my needs.  We are now getting paid on time. I was able to put my hands on all information for this years taxes in 10 minutes.  Thanks to Tamara I found over one hundred thousand dollars in unpaid invoices! Now it's a much happier place to work!

I highly recommend the Zook It! method to anyone who wants to increase their productivity, make more money and have more free time to enjoy life!

Baby Blessings™ for Our Planet

This is one of the greatest ideas I've seen in a long time!  Clear out clutter with this great spring cleaning short cut - Join GreenDimes, a service that will reduce your postal junk mail and plant a tree for you every month. What better way to get organized than to get less stuff to go through in the first place! For a dime a day or $36 a year, you can save time and resources by not having to sort, shred, and recycle mountains of junk mail.  GreenDimes will get your name off direct mail lists, unsolicited offers, and even the catalogs you no longer want (while you keep the catalogs you do want). It is also a great gift!  Check it out:

To Celebrate Earth Day, the Auto Club of Southern California's Putting on the AAA Great Battery Roundup ®
April 16 - April 22 and Then All Year Long!

Let's Round 'Em Up! For the fifth consecutive year the Auto Club is asking members and the public to look around their garage, backyard and tool shed and donate their old car, truck, motorcycle, airplane or boat battery for safe recycling to any of the Auto Club's collection locations throughout Southern California.

New this year to the campaign is the establishment of 39 collection locations that will accept and recycle your lead-acid battery during our roundup campaign and then at any time throughout the year.  The campaign is a great way to safely dispose of an old lead-acid battery and help the environment. And the AAA Battery Service will donate $1.50 for every battery turned in to Surfbus, a Southern California organization that sends children from low-income families on their first beach trip combined with marine science education and a surf camp experience.

"Hearts get broken in America's heartland as David and Denise's 10-year marriage struggles to stay afloat. SWIMMING is a modern-day cautionary tale of the destructive power of a lie. When you're in over your head, how long can you hold your breath?"

We have two more performances.  Tonight, Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th.  Show times are 8:00 and half priced tickets can be purchased at the following sites:
